Hi Julian,

I've found this article very informative. However i ran into an issue and was hoping to find a suitable solution. I moved a universe from one environment to another and now when i try to export the Universe in the new environment it takes too long. But, its working fine in the old environment. Any tips will really help.
Thanks,

Wow Marshall! Actually, you are one of the guide's early adopters and back then, when you bought it (almost 3 years ago), we were not as organized as we are now. I have emailed you the upgrade info that current buyers get. I hope you like this latest version. Thanks again for your purchase and support of BusinessObjectsTips.com.

Julian, this is great news! I'll have to see if I still have my original receipt stored somewhere, since I've changed jobs since then. I'm looking forward to what tips you have on IsAllowed.

Hi Reeta,

You will require a Java web application server for using AdminTools(Query Builder) war file to be deployed on. Probably you are using WACS/.NET as a combination thats the reason why they must have said you cannot use AdminTools

Regards,
Ravi

Thank you so much for your quick reply. It is a possibility that they did not know where query builder lives while deploying. Can you give some steps how we can deploy it now?

Hi Reeta, whoever told you that needs to go on your list of people to second-guess and question. Business Objects XI 3.1 (which I assume is what you are calling R3) certainly does have Query Builder. So also does the latest release of Business Objects called Business Intelligence platform 4.0 (BI 4.0). The web application "AdminTools" must be deployed for you to be able to use it. As far as I know Query Builder and "AdminTools" is free, always has been.

It is possible that the person who setup your web applications did not deploy AdminTools, or they did not know that AdminTools is where Query Builder lives. Either way, please let me know if you have found it on your system or been able to deploy it.

Hi Julian,
We have been told Query builder is not availbale in R3. How do we run this query? Is it something that we need to buy separate brom SAP?

Hi Dhiren, you are completely correct. Of course, you could bring in to PROD the Universe with a different CUID (and a different name), then you could manually open all WebI and or Desktop Intelligence reports and map them to that new Universe. Then you could delete the old universe and rename the new one as you please. No, having said this, if you use Life Cycle Manager (BO XI 3.1 and later) then this should automatically be handled for you.

There is another article that may be of interest to you:
