I had the excel issue as well. It was when I had graph's in my report I also had report filters ect. The user complained that the data downloaded to excel as a picture like the graph and was unable to maniuplate it.

Thanks

Hi John,

Thanks for your purchase, I hope you find the guides useful.

I have never heard of nor experienced what you are describing. Actually, I just checked an Excel file that one of my systems emails me from a report and I am completely able to use the numerical data in Excel functions and in graphs that I add in Excel. Your experience baffles me. Right now, I can tell you that the Excel files from BO XI R2 and BO XI 3.1 do not behave at all like you describe (using WebI and DeskI reports as original sources). (scratching head)

I can confirm that functions do no output to Excel. I know most people know this, but for example, if you sum a column in your WebI report and then you export the report to Excel, you will get a spreadsheet with the total, expressed as a number and not as a Sum() function in the Excel Spreadsheet.

Also, just in case you haven't you might want to read "<a href="http://www.businessobjectstips.com/uncategorized/business-objects-cannor-not-create-an-excel-file/" rel="nofollow">TRUTH: Business Objects Does Not Create an Excel File, Help!</a>".

I will post an Excel file from my system for you to test out and I would like it if you could send me of of yours too. I want to see if we can figure out what is going wrong.

Hi. I bought and downloaded the guides. Here's a question I'd like to have answered. We have Business Objects Web Intelligence at work. It allows the user to save as an Excel file. However, the data on the spreadsheets cannot be manipulated. It's not read as numbers for some reason. You can't sum, count, or anything. I have tried saving it in deferrent Excel versions, I've tried cutting and pasting special--values only, and so on. I tried changing the General format to number format. Nothing works.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
